4. What’s the company’s origin?
In May 2018 Marc Roca was considering starting his own FBA business, as he had many friends who had been successful doing so. He found out that, instead of starting a business from scratch, he could just buy a currently existing one. This seemed more attractive than launching products, which is a risky activity, as they may end up not selling well. Those businesses were sold for a low multiple, around 24 times monthly SDE. If he was able to just run it as well as the previous owner, expected returns were already incredibly high.
So he bought one and asked Vedast Sanxis if he wanted to get half of it. Vedast accepted and shortly after that, the business was making around twice as much money as before, so returns were even higher than expected. Income was also quite stable, unlike most investments. So we found something that didn’t just deliver very high but also stable returns. If we were able to systematize and delegate the job of operating them, we could keep on buying more, using our savings and having other investors join us. And that’s how Alpha Rock Capital was born.↩︎
